    mpc3500 jam tray 1

Tray 2 works.fine. tried swapping feed tires, same result. Tray 2 works perfectly.

    Any thoughts?

Probably a defective paper feed unit. You can swap it with one of the other trays and see if the problem moves.

Ditto on the paper feed unit.

Might not be you problem but I have found that the brass bushing (AA082101) on the feed roller shaft wears the plastic on the edge of where it just sits into the pickup arm, this allows enough movement for the feed guide to slip and cause misfeeds. I think the bushing is too short and have replaced a few on high volume machines with a longer one (AA082058) that sits in better and haven't had the issue happen again.

x3, also the drive shaft with the pin can get really gunked up at its bushings and become really tight, it should spin freely.
