[Misc] Black Pages Ricoh Aficio MP9000/1100/1350

I have two Ricoh Aficio MP9000 with the same problem, all black with printing margins off perfectly, this means that the laser makes the design of the impression cylinder in black, but the laser has already been exchanged, BCU board (all), made the upgrade firmware, exchange corona charge, but the fault persists, sometimes it happens every 500 or 5000 or 2000 pages, and can occur at any time and intermittent problem.
Ja did not know what else to do with this equipment and welcome any suggestion, following attachment of the defect.
    Thank you

run smc reprt 5-990 04 logged data see if it logged any sc codes. Does it do it when you printing to it or just copying or both?

Its unlikley that both copiers will have the same fault at the same customer.Copy looks like noise or interference. Possibly noise on power line (supply) Are the copiers in the factory with heavy machinery?Perhabs bad earth/trapped wire.
Long shot but you never know.

You have a bad drum charge problem.
Check the connection to the pcu from the HVT, or just lean both connectors with a pencil eraser.
The laser failure will cause light areas in the image.
Why do you clean the laser slit glass when you have light, or white streaks.
If it were a firmware problem, the machine would have done it from day 1.

          Just my $0.018 worth.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Thank you all for your help.
Well the problem is with copying and printing, has already been changed controller, drum charge, laser and electrical harness that connects between the laser and the controller. I'm suspecting that the information is coming to the wrong laser and writes like that or even information is coming right for the laser and the same is suing the wrong way, but both have already been exchanged.

                Smell the charge corona unit(housing)
If plastic part smells like burnt plastic, replace the whole unit
These machines also have single chorona charge.
                Replace that too...

If the machine is respecting the printing margins then I'd rule out any corona problem.

The fact that it happens on two machines at the same location makes it plausible that it could be something common to the two, like the power outlet, just like Max pointed out.

I've fixed some odd problems on those machines by making a RAM clear (SP5801), if nothing else works you could always try that.

Only time I have seen that is when I had a customer printing something they self designed and 1 page was an image they took, for some reason the image would print fine for 100 pages then on 2 or 3 pages it was garbled junk just like your page. Turned out the image file was corrupted, they replaced the file with a new one and it worked fine.

In your case if this happens when your just making copies of a counter sheet or something basic then its something else LD unit maybe.

Power or HV arcing, which would be charge or pre charge coronas. Replace both as complete units. CHeck the power source. These units should be on the best power filters you can buy. BTW the lasers in these units normally work or code out completly nothing in between. cost about $1000 US.

                          Hi there.

I am having the exact same problem. I'm wondering if you found the solution to this?

The initial problem was an sc670 which was resolved with firmware but now, instead of sc670, he's getting this random black-lined page. Also, when I downgraded the firmware to the previous version, it went back to the sc670 problem. When I check the service history, there's a silent SC670 happening when they get the black sheet.

I have replaced the corona assemblies as well as the RAM; formatted the HDD. I'm thinking it's possibly the IPU but that's a $1200 guess...

                              Hi

did anyone find a solution to this problem as we have exactly the same fault on a MP9000 now? only happens when copying/printing 200-300 pages so annoyingly intermittant!!

Spoken to level 2 support at Ricoh and they are adamant that it is the HDD's causing the fault and that they both need to be replaced so i am desperately hunting for the correct drives.
