MCP5000 "Replace Toner Soon" message wont go away

I'm working on a Ricoh MPC5000 color copier and in the display is this message "Replace Toner Soon Black, Yellow".

The toners have been replaced but the message won't clear.

I've replaced the RFID pwb with no change.

Ricoh Hotline thinks it's the IO pwb.

    I don't know.....please help.

Have you checked that the toner attraction pump works? We have had similar problems where the toner pipe or pump gets blocked, and the toner message won't go away.

Either that or the joint on the back of the machine where the toner pipe connects to below the RFID board (the one with the sensor on it) can also get blocked, and then also the message will not clear. Easy to get to - remove controller securing screws and swing controller away from the machine frame, then you can see all 4 of the "ports".

    Hope this helps.

Replace the toner pump and tube. It comes as a set.

Ignore the message until toner end condition, than replace the toner with new ones - problem might solve itself. If not you might check the toner pump/tubes as already said.

This morning at first call I replace the black toner attraction with no change, still stays same message.
It never gets to the " LOADING TONER" message even after pulling the toner bottle and opening, closing front door.
Waiting for new IO pwb to arrive (well, it's from harvest).

Have you checked the nozzle assembly. As I said in my previous mail, we have had two instances where they were clogged -just use your service vacuum and clean it out. It is easy enough to check once the controller is out of the way.

If the machine has trays 3 and 4,make sure bottom right hand door is closed properly. I have seen this on mpc machines before. It just sits saying replace toner but does nothing even when a new bottle is installed.

I have seen that too, and if you look closely at the LCD in the bottom of the screen you will see the red open cover symbol. Almost imperceptible because of the mush larger "add toner"

The copier is running and copy quality is good but still displays "Replace Toner Soon Black, Yellow".

At this point I replaced the RFID board the IO board and the black toner pump. I also vacuumed out the nozzles with no change.

My last resort is replacing the toner bottles. The customer didn't have any new bottles to put in so I asked them to order therm.

Again the machine is running so that would rule out a "Cover Open" condition.

The customer did say that yesterday the display did read " Loading Toner" which I couldn't get it to do at all so far.

The took out the toner, shook it and re-installed it and it came to Ready but still read "Replace Toner Soon".

Now I wait and see what happens when new toner arrives.

I have encountered the same problem in MPC 2500.Though the toner was half full, the low toner indication was appearing in the display. I cleaned the toner pipe, toner pump, and the nozzle but same problem. So what I did I replaced the toner bottle and the problem was solved.

Quit knocking yourself out and replacing parts. As stated before, it will resolve itself once it runs completely out of toner and a new one is added. The machine doesn't actually know how much toner is really in the bottle, it's just a mathematical calculation based on pixel count per page and some other variables. As long as it can detect toner dropping past the toner sensor in the rear, it will continue to function. Just advise the customer of same.

Isnt this the machine that you can go into SP something like 3045 and turn off the toner end detection, run a few copies and power down the machine, then go back in to the SP and turn the end detection back on and it resets itself. I have done that before to clear an end message and it went away successfully.

Yes, you're correct however, I did the SP3045 and the message did go out but came right back.
