Thanks for the reply. But I don't know what the numbers refer to. Is it a maint. mode, or could you explain the steps. ThanksComment

Re: Format Hard drive on a Ricoh MPC-2500
Formatting it won't completely wipe the drive. Replace it with a new one and then smash the shit out of the old one with a big hammer. And record it to put on Youtube. Data security and stress relief at the same time! It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Re: Format Hard drive on a Ricoh MPC-2500
yummy, some spam again
As they said there is no proper formatting function available in service mode but I'd say it's good enough since ricoh seems to use quite some non-usual file system. Once I tried to rip off some data of a ricoh MFC harddrice (just to see what's possible) and I kinda got nothing out of it.

I am the service. We sold them a Kyocera, and I don't know how to format for the customer. Sending back to Leasing Co., and customer watched the big news story on copier hard drives....Comment

Re: Format Hard drive on a Ricoh MPC-2500
Oh yea. Have been selling so many more data security kits. Can anyone give me info on a service way to format. And yes I know that my 12 gauge would fix it, but i need it to work when the wholesale guy powers it up..Comment

Re: Format Hard drive on a Ricoh MPC-2500
Re-install into the copier and power it up. It will take a bit longer to boot than before as it has to load everything off the SD cards instead of the hard drive. The copier should automatically reformat the drive as it will be in an unknown (unused) state.A Ricoh Service Tech for 7 year. A Konica Minolta Service Tech for 7 years. Now, KM service manager for 4 years.
My Ricoh knowledge is slowly dwindling away at this point. Many things have been lost to time...Comment
