    Ricoh (Lanier) LP138c

I wonder if anyone can help me, I have a Lanier LP138c which in essence is a Ricoh with a different badge, I started to get a very annoying error which displays almost when it wants...its SC 386.

The way I can get this error to go is when I take out the black toner and put it back in and restart the machine, it will then work for a while before the same error. The black toner is quite fresh however when I print balck only it does print grey and patchy.

    Any help anywhere?

It's the black dev unit (gamma error).
Normally it's down to a lose connection because the unit has to much play.

Take out the black dev unit and make sure the connector is clean.
Then make sure the black dev unit is well pushed in and that the rail is securing all the units in place sufficiently.

It may also be the case your black dev unit -or- black PCU needs replacing if copy quality is poor and it's near or past yield.
Also enabling 'auto TD adjust' and doing a 'toner refresh' from SP mode sometimes does the trick to maintain a good density level, but only a tech should do that.

Many thanks for your advice, you have solved my problem, I put in a new black dev unit and that did the trick.

Just send me the bill Daz!

      Thanks

Hi Cipher, you advised me a while back on my Lanier printer so I thought it may be wise to ask you again for your valuable advice....

I have a Lanier LP138c which in essence is a Ricoh with a different badge

Recently when printer either b/w or colour, the printed sheets appears with faint yellow bands vertical, you could say they are almost 20/30 yellow in shade and has happenned out of the blue. Any guesses what it could be?

p.s. I will also post this on the main forum too.
