Ricoh 2032 - (was working fine) -replaced toner - now all smudges across paper?

    Hi

I dont know what has happened

Was printing fine, toner ran out, replaced, but now the leading edge of the reverse of the first page has a smudge down it, and ALL pages have blotches / smudges on them?

I have changed the toner again, cleaned the glass, cleaned the roller, and ran through 50 all black sheets, still no joy

I just dont know whats up

PCU is only 30,000 sheets old too so dont think its suddenly that as it was fine yesterday!

    Any ideas? thanks

the best you can do is put the original toner

yes i know now, but will i need to replace the PCU as well? or will it right itself with the new toner?

          thanks

Depends how much toner has gone into it. Fit an OEM toner and run about 500 through it, it the copies clear up, so much the better. This is the problem with non-original toner, you have no guarantee it will be totally compatible. Use OEM where possible.

Thinking about it actually, could you claim the cost of a new PCU from the non-original toner manufacturer? Do they guarantee it to be 100% compatible?

                    - remove the hopper
                    - do as many skyshots until the machine asks for toner
                    - vac out the hopper PROPERLY
                    - install it together with a genuine toner back in the machine
                    - perform another testrund (like printing all SMC lists at least 10 times)

Depending on the results you might have been able to recover the PCU - if not, you should replace it. Bad toner can also harm the fuser rollers - better check if the surfaces looks healthy.

Do you mean smudging as in streaks? Is it on the back as well?
