I just did a test-run and the machine is scanning almost properly is you measure it DPI-wise. But there''s indeed quite a reduction made by the application (Adobe Reader). But if I use TIFF/jpeg in combination with a proper image viewer like "irfanview" I can select "original size/from image DPI" in the print dialogue and get an almost 100% accurate reproduction (I simply compared a ruler-scan with the original ruler).

I had a similar experience 3 or 4 years ago. I think it was an Aficio 3228.

The customer was going to use the scanned images on his website, so any viewing / printing ap was out of the picture.

He complained about the line as well, as it appeared on the web pages.

He ended up editing every page with an ap (don't remember which one) to eliminate the line before posting to his site.

Needless to say, he was one unhappy camper.

2 things you can do (for C2500/3500 series and similar. I'm not sure of the button sequence to set on 3245C,etc):
To get rid of the line all together go to scanner/scan settings/edit/erase border/ (set it to .1 or .2)/program/ program as defaults.
Check results. This will get rid of the line created by the edge of paper.
        Then
With regards to the reduction, to me it's along the lines of what Gift was saying. Although I only use Foxit Reader at my current location and don't have access to Adobe Reader. The settings are probably pretty similar:
Under "scaling type", I have already set it to "None", while the the default was originally "fit to printer margins".
When I printed the document it looked perfect; However, when I switched back to the default setting (fit to printer margins) the line was visible, and the document was reduced by about 1cm. Once the settings are changed the Reader should maintain them until the y are changed again.
        Hope this helps
