    [Misc] Ricoh Aficio 1018 (copier/printer)

We have a machine that randomly prints out "Status/Network" Configuration sheets. The sheet has all of the TCP IP information, and information about the machine.

    1) it puts out the sheets and we can't make it stop, what menu controls this?

    2) We cannot access the machine through the network after a day of hard labor?

Switch off the Auto-Off function in User Tools. The machine switches itself off after some time (default=30 min). When you switch it on, it will print the network page.

      1. Are you able to ping the machine?
      2. How are you connected to the machine?
      3. What program are you using to print to the machine?
      4. Can you do a test print from the driver?
      5. do you have the latest drivers installed?
      6. Are you printing to a LPR port or RAW?
Testing 1-2-3, testing, testing. Is this thing on?

I believe on this older box you could log into the 'setup page' of the WIM with username: sysadmin , password: leave blank, or "password" (???).
Then there was an option something like "print config page at startup" that you could un-check

          3. What program are you using to print to the machine? downloaded thelatest driver, attempted to install/find the machine on the network and it wouldn't showup on the network.

When I initially made the change you recommended... it spit another sheet out....
But it seems to be working so far. i will let you know if anything changes.

btw... thanks for the feedback on the poll! :-)

I can't see the printer on the network to even log in to the machine.

Ok, try this. Using a laptop with the printer drivers installed on it, plug straight into the copier using a crossover cable. Make sure the copier and the laptop are both on the same IP address scheme (not the same IP address though). If you can't connect to the copier there is a problem with the network card in the copier.

cool that sounds viable..... as soon as we can come up with / or make a crossover cable we will test it out..... Perfection.

Most newer laptops can use a regular network cable; they will make the switch internally, so if you have a newer laptop you should be golden.
