Who is there internet provider. They might have a mail server that can be used just need to setup the mail server in copier. All they need to do is setup an email account with that mail server and if they used password set that up to. Yahoo might see there email as spam and that is why they block it.

Hmm...I've been using this setup for a year or so, and seldom had a problem (only intermittently, when the smtp server is down or something), or as 'copierman' has suggested, an issue with the ISP(?). In that case have them provide an unencrypted SMTP, usernames, passwords, etc.
If it's a 'spam" issue, you can try sending an email to an outside email address (ie: your own) and see if it goes through. If it does, it's definitely the "spam" issue". Although it seems unlikely, if this occurred at several different companies at the same time.
This configuration should really only be used as a sort of last resort, when the company has no access to there own compatible mail server (with no encryption). I actually only use a single yahoo account that I've created for all the clients I've configured this way (maybe a dozen) since the mail doesn't reside on the server, there are no privacy issues, etc., and it keeps things simple.
I'm sure some techs may have issues with that, but most of my clients just "want it to work".
I also just scanned to email using the yahoo setup, and it worked without a hitch.

Man, I wish I could get that to work. I used the setup from your earlier post into the machine here at work (MP8001) with no joy. Must be an issue with our ATT service.

SMT2GO.com will get all the copiers that will not scan to email with TTL or SSL. It is what we use and have had great success.

That's another interesting solution I've not heard of. Are there any tricks to the setup? It seems like it should be simple enough.
I've tried it on my local MS Outlook account, and it works, but when I enter the same settings into the WIM, scan to email still fails.

Hoo Yah, I finally got it to work. I had to ping yahoo.com to get the correct DNS. Thanks sandmanmac You get a rep bump for that.

I tried this settings on MP 2000 and MP 161 and they work...but when I use them on a aficio 2020D (on 2 at least) the machine gives me an error...
would this settings work on the 2020D or I need to set up something else??

I Don't know what to tell you. I have one of those sitting right in front of me too, and just tested it myself as well. Worked fine.
You must missing a setting somewhere

Copy of a post i saw earlier:

Same here. I had a couple of calls yesterday about the same issue.
It seems that the IP address of the SMTP has been changed.
I'm using xxx@yahoo.ca. I pinged the SMTP server, and used the 'new' one, and it worked fine again after that.
No idea why it would have been changed. I'm expecting more calls today

                            A couple of items.
                            1. Scan to Gmail: You do not need to use Stunnel. Instead use Google's non-ssl smtp server aspmx.l.google.com on port 25. See Sending mail from a printer, scanner or app - Google Apps Help
You can only send to a Gmail account or if the customer is using Goggle APS then any account in their Goggle domain. Most of my custoers using gmail merely scan to themselves and then forward adding any additional information they need with the scanned document.

                            2. File type: After setting the file type and any other changes required to defaults settings, press the program button, program as default. Follow the prompts to confirm that you want to change defaults.
