    scan to folder setup

need to set up scan to folder on a mp 7500. the customer wants to scan directly to users workstations, but their passwords change every 2 weeks. is there any way i can set up the paths on the address book, save them with the users names and have the mp 7500 ask for credentials when they are ready to scan to the folders.

    ie.
scanner----user name----please enter login informantion: user name, password.-----send.

    Re: scan to folder setup

How about something simpler like having IT set up an admin login/password that does not need to be updated. That's the solution I usually look for in this situation. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

correct, i told them to set up a service account (password will not change)for the copier. To be honest with you guys...they are even contemplating the idea of software for scanning..(a step backwards if you ask me). I have tried to persuade the it dept to do this, but "they have security concerns.".

i have another question, if i set up PIN for users to access scan to folder, can i restrict that user to only be able to scan to his desktop.? or once the user has access to the scan function can the user access another scan to folder path other than his.

To the best of my knowledge, 'authentication' can only be set for access to a particular 'function' (Ie: scanner), and not the locations within that function. I'm interested to know why that would be of concern to them, or are they just 'that type of customer'?

Sounds like a GlobalScan or eCopy candidate to me!

                  It's a Ricoh exclusive.

You can also get eCopy through Ricoh, as eCopy (Nuance) is a full partner.

You can enable "Protection Code" in place of or in conjunction with user codes. Each user is assigned an individual code that is required to enable the ability to scan to their individual folder. This is separate from the user code (but can be the same code) needed to access a particular function (ie, Scanner, Fax, Copy,..).

I'm also not sure why they would have a security concern regarding setting up a unique user authentication for the scan folder. They can limit it to be able to only have rights to that folder and nothing else.

Protection Code in conjunction with the user codes would be great. How do i go about turning on this feature.

                          6. Select the name whose protection code you want to register.
You can search by the registered name, fax number, folder name, e-mail address, or IP-Fax destination.
                          7. Press [Protection].

                          8. Press [Destination] or [Sender] under "Use Name as".

Both [Destination] and [Sender] can be selected at the same time.
                          9. Press [Change] under "Protection Code".
