    MPC2500 Operations Panel is nonFunctional

    hi Everyone (generic)

I have a MPC2500 with a dead operations panel. I just changed the touch screen and did the calibrations.
Went in to service mode and checked settings for the SC codes and the hard drive.
I exited the service mode and started to test keys and then go to adjust the sound levels.
that's when it happened - the entire operations panel went dead.
    any thoughts or ideas !!!!!!!
I have been through all of the bulletins and done a search of the site.
any and all assistance would be much appreciated.

first check the connectors on the panel, if the screen is still dead then go to the power supply verify if there is 24 and 5 volts.
    Nobody is perfect..

I'm with rsyarcia. Seems a little too coincidental to me to not be related something you did. Most likely a connector not seated fully

thanks for the responses, I have already checked all connectors and the power supply.
it will work fine when the machine is first started up, then after a few minutes the whole operations panel stops working.
its still all lit up and appears normal, just that nothing functions.

You say the OCP "appears normal" but nothing works. In that case try doing your calibration again, and also do the touchscreen test to verify your calibration. I was asleep one day doing one of these and hit OK for the calibration to complete the setup but my setup points were way off and my touchscreen had no response.

lol, why does that not surprise me coming from you Mr.Bowen!!!!!

turns out that there is an issue with the controller and a very bad hard drive.

I had a few faulty LCDC pcb's. Myself was facing a streaky display and I think a workmate had a non-responding panel - both cases where either a MPC2500 or MPC3000 not the other series. In this case it might be possible that something went bad during reassembly - at least I'd call it a strange coincidence if the entire panel is non responding after replacing just the touch panel.

Firstly, I am not criticizing your skills, but ... was the machine off and unplugged when you disassembled the op panel? That would be the most likely cause for a failed main PWB and HDD after op panel disassembly.

I don't know if this machine has a sub-power switch, but most machines still have power through most circuits with the sub-power Off, and main-power On. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                  1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                  2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                  3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                  4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                  5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

the machine was off and unplugged completely. It turns out that one of the other techs swapped out the complete hard drive cage to get a clients machine up and running.
there was no note on the machine to tell me that there was parts swapped out.

                    as a side note;

I have known Mr. Bowen for a while now and his comment about being asleep to calibrate a panel just makes me laugh.

Re: MPC2500 Operations Panel is nonFunctional

Have had EXACT same symptoms. Ended up replacing BICU board + polygon mirror motor. Replace as a set. Just in case order EEPROM if the old one will fail after transfer to a new BICU board. Before you do it get a flashlight and shine onto a touch panel when its black (no light but machine is running) then you will see that it has SC code on a screen. If it is SC201 (polygon mirror motor issues or similar) then see above.
FYI - BICU board controls a supply of a power to a OP panel.
                      Hope it helps.

Firstly is your blue keypad still functioning? Can you go into SP mode? I had similar problems with the ribbon cable running underneath the controller to the IOB as well as the BCU on another machine causing the same symptoms

this issue has already been resolved.
thank you for the responses to my quarry.
