Set up an IPP connection on the server and print to that.

VPN connection would be the best idea, but you can also use IPP or you could even forward port 9100 from the router to the printer so that when you print to the IP address of the business (real world internet IP address) using port 9100, all that information will be forwarded to the copier.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

I agree, a VPN tunnel using RDP would be the best answer. The customer would normally get their IT people to sort this out for them, ideally using a public-facing static IP address.

The alternative, I suppose, would be to set up IP address translation on their firewall from a static public-facing IP address to the local IP address of the copier, but that would just be silly.
