Hey all, Been having this issue for a while - have twice fitted the feed tyres in the last 3 months! Customer is located in a dusty hole so this has never helped but the ADF jamming issue is getting worse. All ADF jams are logged as 053 Separation: Off? I have opened the whole unit out, cleaned EVERY sensor but I am still getting intermittant jams which is doing my head in as the customer batters the top feeder! Could it be a clutch starting to fail? Help please!

Uusually it's that stupid felt collecting dust at the aligning roller....I've also seen the one way shaft of the feedbelt gets too shiny, take some fine grit sandpaper to it to get rid of the shine. I also take a black sharpie and color those felts black every so often to keep them dark. -

I've had a couple of motors fail in this doc feeder. As I was running one you could hear the motor slowing down as it was running, kind of like a spin down noise. I think the part number is B802 1621.It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Did you replace the sep roller or torque limiter?
Torque limiter part # is A294 6700.Why do they call it common sense?

Did you clean the sensor underneath the white plate on the underside of the ADF (it sits on the scan glass when the ADF is down?)Comment

2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

The sep roller, and you should know this, is the white roller that sits against the belt when the lid is down.
The felt is located in a recess - open the ADF lid and you'll see some sensors on the underside of the lid. Now look at the main body of the ADF where these sensors would be looking if the lid were shut - that's the recess that has felt in the bottom and gets discoloured by paper dust. Colour the felt in with a black Sharpie (or similar.)Comment

There are 2 dust-collecting black holes towards the rear when you lift the top adf cover. I bought a sheet of adhesive backed black felt from Hobby Lobby for a dollar and make my own patches. Enough felt for hundreds of new patches. I think Ricoh charges 10 bucks apiece for them. What a rip.NEVER ASSUME ANYTHINGComment

Thanks again for all the advice everyone - I coloured in ALL the felt unders fot the sensors (including the one on the little metal plate on the underside of the ADF) Seems to be doing the trick for now so I have learned a valuable lesson here! Cheers again.Comment
