Well, got the toner attraction pump of today. And testet if the magnet for the gears still works, and it does. The rupper inside, runs pretty hard, I don't know if this is the meaning but it seems to be good enough to pull tone through it. I cleaned out the whole toner attraction pump assembly, for old toner, so I'm gonna make a test now to see if the assembly works again. But damn, half of the machine is disassembled right now... Now comes the task of putting it all back together again.

Could it really just be the rubber insert in the assmebly which is faulty??

It is a combination of both. The rubber binds up to the point the clutch can't turn it.
Cleaning out the rubber helps, but the clutch has already worn enough that it won't drive the auger.
I tried cleaning them before without luck.
As hard as they are to replace, it is best just to put in a new one and save the time.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Ok, then I'm affraid I will not replace it. It will simply be too expensive for me.

I only paid around $150 for the entire copier, which had already done 750.000 copies, so I might just sell it off again and then buy another instead.
A new toner pump will cost me upwards almost $350 delivered...

I tried to initialize the black developer, and that made it possible to run some prints, but soon it came along with no toner again, so I bet the attraction pump assembly is faulty...

Is there anyone who knows, if it's normal that some toner will enter the air hose for the black hopper?
Could this be a hopper fault, or is this normal?

Well clutch have been swapped out now, but I'm still getting no black toner alert. So I'm pretty sure that the old Clutch worked as it should.

            Any other bright ideas?

I would love to think that it would be because the air hose gets in some black powder, all hoses have been cleaned, vacuumed and so on. So now I'm at a loss here.

I would appreciate any input from anyone...

Does anyone know how much air the small pump is supposed to pump out??

Hmmm, now It seems like the toner is cluttering up in the hoses. I'm gonna change the hoses, and try another toner cartridge instead, and hope this might do the trick. Perhaps also add a new nozzle under the bk toner hopper.

                  The toner is original Ricoh.

Re: Ricoh 3245C K-Air pump question

Well I'm trying to switch the pumps around, I have cleaned out the hoses once again, cleaned the hopper, and refit the whole thing one more time.

I'm gonna try another toner bottle, and then I'm probably gonna do a QUIT on it if it still does not work. I cannot keep on spending money on this one.

Switching the clutch once again is not gonna happen, I did buy a used one, at 1/3 the price of a new one, so I'm not gonna be springing for a brand new one instead, as it would kill my finances this instant.

So if this is not going to work, then I'm affraid there's not much more I can do to make it work.

Does anyone know, how to enter the service menu where I can turn on the pump and clutch manually, so I can force the toner through?

Ok, test done, the pump seems to be the trouble. Now it's printing again, and black is getting blacker...

So it seems I'm gonna be have to invest in a new air pump at some time, for the color section. I might as well buy them both. They are not so expensive.

                      I'm again a happy man. :P

The toner pump is a 4hr job for one man, ask me and see why the gear I have in the feeld has over a million copies on it and had to go and do the toner pump after vakcing out all the pypes and recycle system.

A 4 hour job?? Hmm, I believe I did in half that time!!!

I have replaced the BK clutch pump, and I have switched the air pumps around, and haven't even taken mine that far apart to do it.

I do not usually do work on copiers at all. I'm just a guy who does most of his own service work on all he owns..

If I can do it myself, why pay others to do it for me. hehe...

So no I have not done any work on the MP201...

FYI, You do not need to stripped the laser to remove the black toner pump. The first time I did it with another technician is about 1 hour.
