[Electrical] Ricoh 1045 - tripping power

    hi,

I am having trouble with a Ricoh 1045 tripping the power whenever it is powered ON. Checked Power Supply Board and replaced but problem persists. Any suggestions appreciated..

Tripping the power when you turn it on means that you have a short in a 110v line. Most obvious is the fuser has pinched wires or bare wires on the lamps or a shorted thermofuse to the fuser roller. Other possibility is a bad power supply or worn wires at the plug. Shorts in the 24v and 5v lines would normally not cause the wall plug breaker to pop. Also check your door switches, they are famous for having problems. Any sorter, document feeder, paper tray etc add on should be disconnected from main machine to isolate them as a cause. Good luck.
Testing 1-2-3, testing, testing. Is this thing on?

Has there been another tech on this machine before you?if not then X2 on (kyrenecopy) post. this way it'll surely sort it out. I would first start with Bad Fuser option.

another thing to check would be in the interchange unit. Right up there with the exit sensor, the wonderful engineers decided to run a wire for an extra sensor right across a metal shaft which then shorts out. Check that along with the fuser.

I'm going to mention this just because noone else has: Is it possible that the circuit is already overloaded, and the Ricoh is just the straw that broke the camel's back? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Measure neutral to ground with copier unplugged. Should be .5 or less. The higher the voltage, the more load on the circuit. Find out what else is dead when breaker blows.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Fuser unit, it's always the fuser unit.

Unplug the duplex, ADF, system stand and remove the fuser, check that the machine powers up fine with them all disconnected, then turn it back on after plugging each one in, one at a time.

Do the fuser last - it'll be the fuser.

If it's the fuser, which it will be, it'll probably be the thermistors.

Its the thermofuse/thermostat holders, the plastic goes porous after a while and starts to conduct when the humidity level rises i.e wet weather.
                          Played that game several times.,
