I think the only thing left apart from the harnesses is the CCD itself. Browsing through our in-house discussion board nobody has had this on a MP9000 however there is a post concerning this SC in combination with SC101 on a model U (1224c etc)

FAULT:- Intermittantly or continously:- SC142, SC101 or colored vertical lines/background

CAUSE:- Faulty adhesive attaching the glass to the CCD causing oxidization and failure of the soldered points of wires on the CCD.

ACTION:- Replace Lens Holder Assy (Part number supplied but obviously for the Model U)

This may or may not be of help, but that's all I can find.

Have you managed to get a copy off the machine? If so what's the copy quality like compared to an engine print?

Ollie, thats a try, i´ve had that problem in the Dsc 224 A4 full color lef feed and verical lines and some times SC142, CCDs replaced by the factory at no cost.

I have had i think it is sc 172 on a 6513 where dust has got on to the mirrors and lens cleaned both up and actually had to open up the ccd and clean in their then reseal.
The home postion sensor also needed puffing out and cleaning with a damp cotten bud. As the mirrors were not going to home postion and not reading the white patch.

Worth a try also worth checking the optics is not Out of postion and causing some weird fault? Either needing the scanner wires adjusting or home postion sensor even a mixture of the two?

                Just some ideas
