If you have an XP PC, try scanning to that. If not, the next step is either a) a firmware update or b) a firewall such as Norton blocking it.

In the case of a, you'll need to update the NIC firmware on the machine and this will have to be done by a Ricoh trained engineer.

In the case of b, add a rule to allow traffic from the IP address of the copier and promote that rule to the top of the list.

I know that this might seem silly, but create the folder in the root C drive on the PC and share that, giving you a path of \\pcname\foldername or, ideally, \\IPaddress\foldername. It could also be a DNS issue and using the IP address will rule this out or give you the answer to the problem.
Unfortunately, we do not have an XP PC available. I will try to bring an old laptop tomorrow to test it out. I do not have an antivirus on the computer I am working on for it is a fresh install with only windows updates installed. I also have the windows firewall and UAC disabled.

Also, the folder i created to share was in fact in the root folder but on drive D (second hard drive) for we have the drive C locked using DeepFreeze. I will try using the IPaddress\foldername and try again.. I'll post back in a few mins. If all else fails, this could really need a firmware update just like you mentioned.

Once again, thank you so much for your help.

    EDIT:

I tried what was mentioned above regarding the use of IPaddress instead of computer name but still no luck. I will try to use an XP laptop computer tomorrow and see if that will work. If all else fails, then I think the machine really needs a firmware update.

I will heed your warning and I do understand the risk. I will notify our Administrator 1st before I proceed.

Once more, thank you so much. I really do appreciate your help.
