    ricoh color copier

    hi to all,

i would like to ask for your advices about which color copier would you recommend for us to buy. we currently have many b/w copiers ricoh aficio 3045 (great machines) but we don't have much idea about color copiers and we haven't used one yet. we are looking for a machine that is durable, reliable and of less issues. speed of 20 to 45cpm, copy, print and scan will do. somebody told us to buy ricoh aficio 3245c which is quite old but it's alright with us even if it's an old model as long it can perform well like a workhorse. is ricoh 3245c a good box or what model/s can you recommend that you think is the best so far? your inputs will be highly appreciated and would be of big help. thank you.

The 3245c is Not very reliable (Poor Designed fuser and toner supply) I would go with a used MPC4500 or MPC5000 upwards the newest models are the MPC 3502 and MPC5002 series

I have had some good results with MPC 3500 -4500, C 5000 and these M/C has been pretty much up to the task,on time PM,Genuine Supplies,Good paper and it's all set,no trouble.also have MPc 2550, C2030, C7501 in my account, only bad thing about C2030 C2550 is SC 400 because ID sensor catching toner on it ,under the ITB.

The MPC3500/4500 are a good box. Just don't expect them to do heavy solids on a regular basis or they'll eat PCU's and fusers.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

        Hit it.

NEVER buy an Venus family machine MPC6000,6001. Awful, awful machine it's a very high maintenance bit of kit often sold to the wrong environment.

Sure there is, depending on where you are. It's either the 'Recycler' or 'Landfill'.

Whats up with one of these that has you going for 3 days (unless you are doing a by the book PM)?

                            Okay, here goes.

                            Day 1:

Follows another engineer in on a repeat call, land on site at 13:00. Ongoing issue with light solids only on black. Engineer previous has replaced developer, developer unit, black toner hopper and potential sensor. I walk in, same issue. Replace developer again in case it didn't set up correctly. Copy quality returns to normal for approximately 250 prints. Turns out when previous engineer fit new toner hopper a wire for the black piezo sensor on the back of the toner hopper was cut and it had been twisted back together and taped up. Stripped the living piss out of the machine and vaccumed it out to get rid of developer / toner on transfer unit HV board. Ran out of time for that day.

                            Day 2:

Land on site at 0810. I try and order harness to repair toner hopper. Harnesses not in stock. Tech spec advises order complete toner bank. I cry. Checked all sensor voltages in SP mode. Update firmware. Cry some more. Close call down at 1300 for an RTF, toner bank, VBCU and controller in case the piezo sensor has spiked and taken out one of them.

                            Day 3:

Arrive on site with tech spec at 0830, armed with Costa coffee. As you can well imagine I'm getting a bit sick of this thing by now. Anyway, I digress. Tech spec and I again tear the living hell out of it. After 5 or so hours (and a steak dinner) fault *possibly* traced to worn transfer bias roller bushings. Swapped black and yellow bushings, no effect. Basically brand new machine's worth of parts ordered on RTF. Stopped off at local BP garage for 5 litres of petrol in case this doesn't fix it, I'm going back tomorrow with the parts, if they don't fix it, it's getting fucking torched.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                            Hit it.
