How is the copy quality now ToM, do you have solid black on prints? Did you replace toner bank assy?
Does specialist points to a worn/blocked black toner dispensing assy?

I'm hoping a new set of bias rollers, bushings and an HV board will sort it. I've got a complete transfer assembly coming as well that I can pull parts off if required. I'll let you all know how I get on tomorrow.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

        Hit it.

We had one of these doing a similar thing, 2 full k pcus where replaced in a matter of days, and in less than 1000 pages the black would start to fade away from the front to the rear of the sheet. the cq was spot on when the PCU and dev assy where replaced. We ended up fitting an entire new transfer assy (and new belt as the new transfer unit comes without a belt). Problem resolved. This machine had done around 600k black and 200 k colour.

It is, without a doubt, the worst machine I have ever worked on. I cut my teeth on these things and can quite honestly say I have never met a machine that was such a god awful piece of shit.

unfortunately the whole group transfer belt.
Then look at the contact springs bias and pcu that are on the machine. I have found them bent and discharged to ground

Shite, if you do dev units and charge at 60k then PCU, fuser, feed, lens block assy and transfer clutch assy at 120k then these will run forever.

                        I'm trying to convince myself...

For color quality I would recommend Canon or even KonicaMinolta, although KonicaMinolta machines are very high maintenance and not reliable.
I would definitely stay away from Ricoh and Kyocera color copiers, but I would consider Kyocera for Black and White.

i think it's best if you create a new thread under canon where most canon techs are there to help.
