    the ID sensor by the transfer roller maybe out of position. sitting farther away from the drum. at a glance it looks like it is seated properly, but i have had those pushed down or away from the drum which will cause overtoning.

      prolly a faulty imaging unit. re-replaced with a new and all is good.

        You might burn up a developer or two troubleshooting. But you could try this. Set SP2921 to fixed mode "3" with fresh developer, this makes the machine add toner by pixel count and takes the toner sensor out of the picture. If it seems to work fine, then you have a bad toner sensor. If it still overtones, then it might be the ID sensor by the transfer roller or circuit board as was mentioned. BTW. When you are finished doing a developer change and pcu rebuild you are 1. turning on machine with doors open. 2. Entering service mode. 3. Closing doors 4. executing sp 2214 (toner sensor initialize). You probably are, but if you are not, that may be the issue.
        I've proved mathematics wrong. 1 + 1 doesn't always equal 2.........
