Aficio 2238 - blank white vertical streak

Dear all,

I am facing a problem with a aficio 2238 which produces a blank white streak across the prints when printing in colour or just black and white. This problem happens even when making prints from the copier or from the PC's. The white streak ( 3-4mm ) is at the lower half of the copy and it stretches the whole length of the print. I have tried replacing each development & drum units one by one but the problem still persist. I have also checked the mirrors & optics & transfer bels but to no avail. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

That's where I would start...
Not sure if the OP considered this when they stated they clean up the "optics" though.

You might want to pull the ITB unit out to make sure the transfer belt hasn't self destructed. If you are working on a low mileage machine please ignore this, but if the machine has has a few years and several hundred thousand prints on it, you should probably check this out.

He said he checked the ITB. The symptom sounds exactly like dirty laser slit glass. Clean that and the toner hopper area (in case there's some stray toner falling down and hitting the glass, which happened to me and another tech once).
