    Ricoh 2045e Tray 1 jamming (Lanier LD145, Gestetner DSM 645) Tray 1 jams

    This one is the gestetner version and tray 1 is jamming. The first time i went up i checked rollers (i just put in a month or so before because they were complaining of jams) I cleaned rollers checked everything and it ran fine so i left. Then i got a call a day or so later that it is jamming again (they took paper out of tray 1 to continue running the machine). I went back up with a brand new feed clutch,separation torque limiter, and new rollers. I replaced all of them figuring that would take care of the problem. We ran about 100 pages and i left on friday (thinking it was fixed)and monday afternoon they let me know it still jams. What can cause tray 1 to jam that i have not already replaced?

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

      It's not uncommon for the tray lift chuck to get a split that will widen as the tray rises, causing insufficient pressure of the paper against the pickup roller (especially with a full tray due to the weight of the paper). Pull the tray out and shine a light on the chuck in the rear of the frame. Chances are you'll see a crack in it.

          I'll +1 that. I've seen this on a number of different machines...
          A Ricoh Service Tech for 7 year. A Konica Minolta Service Tech for 7 years. Now, KM service manager for 4 years.
          My Ricoh knowledge is slowly dwindling away at this point. Many things have been lost to time...
