I am unable to print to tray 2 which is loaded with 8 1/2 X 14 plain paper .The size and type are set in the unit itself and the work stations are also set to the size and type . It always goes to error and says size and type mismatch. could this be a driver problem ? I can copy from this tray with no problems but as soon as we try to print to tray 2 it gives us this error .

Pull the cassette and send the print job. What size and type is being asked for on the display? Also, there is an 8.25x14 size in addition to 8.5x14. I've made that setting mistake myself.Comment

Re: Ricoh MP 161 second tray
It might be an application or, less likely, a driver issue. I had this issue with a person trying to print PDFs which weren't actually the same size as the paper in the drawer. The Adobe Acrobat Reader print dialog has something like a "shrink to paper size" setting, if you have that option you might try that.
You probably already did this (sorry), but if not make sure the driver says that 8.5x14" paper is in drawer 2. Also, I suppose you might try switching between PCL5 and PCL6 and RPCS drivers if available to see which one works better. Personally, I like RPCS and PCL6 drivers in that order, but other guys at my shop say the PCL5 driver is better, so it probably depends on the local setup you have.Comment

Re: Ricoh MP 161 second tray
It was on an install at a large title company. The remote IT guy I worked with told me that it had happened on a bunch of locations, so it was by far not the first he had heard of it.“I think you should treat good friends like a fine wine. You could try turning on Auto Continue if you would like the machine to automatically force the job through. Whatever the mismatch it will just print it.Net+ PDI+ @RemoteComment

Welcome to the club. As I stated in my previous post, this happened to me and that's why I suggested it. I think I looked at that setting 10 times and didn't catch it, that extra digit just wouldn't register with me.Comment

Nice call teebee. That may have had him stumped for a while longer too. That's one of those stupid little things that make you feel like a fool when you finally do figure it out. We've all been there!Comment

Re: Ricoh MP 161 second tray
The first thing to check when you are having issues like mentioned above is - WHAT SIZE OF A PAPER was your original file saved in. So, let's say if you file (on your computer) saved A5 or 12x16 and you truly believe that it is suppose to be a Legal size (8,5x14) and it jams - that is why. You are truing to force (tell) via driver that it is Legal but file settings doesn't match actual command.
Second thing - I would suggest checking out Tray's clutches and motors (+gates if they are adjustable).Comment
