I wasn't quite sure where to put this thread. So since the rollers are in this brand, I will just post my question here. I have an upper and a lower roller. I mean, you and indicate right away when a roller is bad as soon as you put it in. Wear and tear damages come from numerous copies. How long will it take before rollers are deemed defective?

Re: Upper and Lower Rollers
The rollers are for the aficio 2035. Sorry, it's pretty early. What I meant to say, how long does it take for rollers to be deemed defective after you installed it? What problems are faced to consider a roller defective? Ghosting? 1 month, 2 months,3 months?Comment

Re: Upper and Lower Rollers
I'm guessing he means the fuser rollers. Fuser components for the 2035 have a PM schedule of 150,000 pages. Like all Ricoh machines, especially in this segment, make sure that the customer is only using OEM toner.Comment

Re: Upper and Lower Rollers
There are lot's of potential symptoms from fuser rollers:
Multiple imaging
Jamming in the fuser
Poor fusing
Banging noise (warped or flat spotted rollers: yeah, I know it's rare.)
Just look at the Teflon on the upper roller. If it's worn through to aluminum (or steel in some cases) it's kaput.
The best test for the lower roller is Nipp width. Run a sky shot and emergency stop the machine with the paper in the fuser. Wait 10 seconds then roll the paper out in one smooth action. When you examine the resulting page you'll see a glossy patch the whole width of the paper that was between the rollers when it stopped. Using your millimeter scale measure the width of that strip in the feed direction toward the center of the page, and at the ends. On a machine like this you should see a Nipp width of 5.5mm in the center, and 5.0 to 5.5mm at the ends.
Realistically, if there is a problem with the lower roller you'll see catastrophic damage, like the clear teflon peeling off, maybe a deep gouge from a lower claw, or a lower bearing squealing because it's coming apart. You won't need super-powers to identify the usual failures.
Keep in mind that the manufacturer's yield is not something written in stone. You are not forced to leave the worn parts in there until 150K, It's OK to change them if it's causing a problem. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: Upper and Lower Rollers
Fusing hot rollers and pressure rollers last for 190K on these models. The pm said 150k. I hope you replace the cleaning roller (AE04 2084 Fusing Cleaning Roller [TSB#020R) when rebuilding the fuser. Also, lower the AUTO off timer and saver mode to 30 mins in the system settings.Comment

Re: Upper and Lower Rollers
That's for sure, and if non-oem parts were installed, anything is possible. My worst experience is with Densi rollers. I seldom got even 50% yield, regardless of machine model.Comment
