Anyway, back on topic. There is a bit of stuff in the fax installation manual for this thing that mentions if you have installed the printer scanner kit AFTER the FCU you have to do some more stuff as mentioned in Step 2 of the MFP Expansion Installation Procedure.

Whatever the hell that means. There's also a few SP modes to run.

Still, I've had a bad phone line cause this exact same problem, in case the fax cable was already plugged into the wall jack.

I see but I get these symptoms even with no phone line plugged in.

TonerMunkeh- I read that in the MP2000 manual, it looks like the same procedure and probably the same unit.

The MP2500 fax unit D345 is unique to that machine you may want to make sure it didnt have a MP2000 one fitted by mistake.

Thanks Bantam, the print scan works OK. The unit was installed in 09 so I dont have much to go by. Is there a way to tell? It doesnt seem to be serialized in anyway?

The part number of D345-5080 should be stamped on the MBU PCB (the big one in the fax unit)

You are right, the MBU is unique to that model, altho it is the small battery board mounted on the larger FCU. At any rate this is the correct board.
I am still thinking Controller.
