Re: MP5500 - Toner Spilled inside machine

Update as of today: I went back with new Dev unit, pcu assembly, fusing unit. I cleaned the toner waste collection coils and toner waste collection motor area. I cleaned all ozone filters + main fan behind the back. 3 hours later, customer call in for SC544...okay thought I did something to the thermistors so I replaced both thermistors. Guess what, another call for SC544.

Anyone experience this situation before? The symptoms is leading to electrical boards problem. I am pretty sure it's not the fusing unit.

I don't know if the toner spill and sc544 related here.

i would put back original heater unit and see if the code comes back before assuming a power supply or board..
dumping toner is not a symptom where one wants to swap out the fuser unless it gets blasted wth
toner and dev and ruins the rollers...

Your fusing unit has nothing to do with toner spillage. I would suggest that you put the original fuser unit back and to take from there.

Hi Did you swapped the controller Box to access Toner Collection Motor Area?if you did then recheck for any pinched wire, specially the CN209 at IOB,which is for fuser Exit sensor and thermistors, make sure it isn't pinched against IOB swing plate or controller Box, HTH!

            Any suggestions will be appreciated.

            SMC REPORT showed:

            DEV bias = 538.
            VREF SP2220-1 = 337 , VT Display = 347.
Have you replaced the dev, as they will start to pour toner all over the machine if it's done over 600k as that's when it should be replaced. Also if your dev unit is anything upward of 2.5 million I would replace that too as it'll start to leak into the paper feed units and wreck those. Better to take a hit on the dev unit than replacing at least 2 paper feed units.

Do i sound like an alien here?...last post said "I replaced new Development Unit, PCU unit, Fusing Unit and the symptom is dumping toner on the development unit after the replacement. I checked it has only 12k copies on these units." But the total counter on the machine is 2 millions.

Thanks fbkhan3, will try that on Monday.

thank you all. This is a great forum. Okay, after replacing a new IOB i was able to reset the code and hopefully this will resolve the toner spill on top of the dev unit.. Will let you know next week.
