[CQ] Aficio 240 W blurring on scans

I have a Lanier LW310 (same as Aficio 240 W) that puts a blur or rather seems to stretch a small section of an image when copying and now scanning. When I thought it was only copies, I cleaned the main charge and seemed to help it. Now the issue has come back and have been told it is showing on scanning. I know it is a scanner issue now but what, I am not sure. I have watched to look for a hesitation in the scan but I don't see any. The stretch is from lead to trail edge and goes all the way across. Thanks in advance for your help, randall.

Never belive it until u can see it with your own eyes!
First thing is to print something ( counter ) if everyhting is ok then make a copy and compare them.
If the printing is blured clear the LHD its under the scan unit ( or on top of the cylinder ) , clear it with some good quality cloth ( u can moist the cloth with glass cleaning products) . It would help to put a picture , so we can see the problem , a picture really makes 1000 words sometimes.Corona unit how/with what did u clean it? ;u have the grid ( aboout 8 wires if im not wrong) and under the grid u have a corona wire.
The scan unit is less likely to be the problem ,in 99% of casses, the glass dirty and/or the rollers .
ps:If you dont know what is the LHD pm me .
pss: Did u tried realign the LHD?

I don't know if this will help, but I have had an instance where the Pickup Rollers under the Scanner Original Cover were worn and the foam sleaves were flopping around on the shafts. The part on the Parts List is B1254738 (Rollerriven:Original) - there are 8 of them.

Thanks for the replies. Whitecat I have seen with my own eyes, one of those bizzar kind of things. Copies look great except for a blurred patch about 1 to 2 inches long more than 2/3 of the way down the copies and looks good after the patch too. Gary, on yours, did you see the hesitation? Just wondering because I see none. Thanks again, Randall.

No, I did not see the hesitation. I was actually called for a service maintenance inspection and the customer mentioned a Scanner problem. The foam rollers were so worn I was not even sure how they were able to use the Scanner period.

I'd say remove the old foam rollers and try it, even if you don't have any new ones in stock.
Running SP4428-002 may help as well. Follow directions on page 3-16 on the Service Manual. We have "lost" CIS units on these machines for no apparent reason...big bucks. You have to buy the whole unit. I wish I knew of a fix for them failing.

Hi , can you make a scan(picture.. something ?) with the blured area? The area is repeating?the blured area is on the whole print doesnt matter how long is the print?
(i had something like this , in my case was blury and grey ( the print was black) area wich had a very strange shape and it was repeating twice on a A2 format , it was the corona grid, i hope it has some meaning .. -.- , sry eng is not my native lang)
I will do my best to help you sort this out XD
