MP 2550 with DF3030 dog ears originals when scanning

Yes I have seen the other posts regarding this problem but I still have a couple of questions.
On the left hinge which springs need stretching and or washers added?
If that doesn't work, does the entire hinge assy get replaced or just the springs?
Before I take off way more stuff than needs to, how does the hinge come out?
    Thanks

So, you haven't actually tried ANY of the solutions that GENERALLY ALWAYS WORK? You're actually wondering how to proceed if none of them do? Is that correct?

No, I tried to get the left hinge out but was unable.
I just wanted to see if I was going about it correctly or if there is a simpler way to get it out that I am not seeing.
I removed about 12 screws, the plastic wire guide above the hinge and the drive motor to the right of the hinge looking at it from the rear.
That is why I am wondering does it come all the way out and does the whole hinge get replaced, or like someone in a previous post said replace the springs?
So I do want to try the solutions that generally work but I wasn't clear which springs get stretched and how to acces them since I couldn't get the hinge out.
Sorry I was working on this late tonight and probably not explaining myself really clear.

On top of each springs put 2 to 3 washers, expanding the spring is hard using a washer is easier and it
will not affect the quality of the spring.

OK thanks, but how do I get to the springs to put the 2 to 3 washers on top?

I take the spring and shoulder screw and toss them. Find a screw with a short shaft and tighten it down. Be sure the screw does not hit the horizontal hinge pin

To clarify what they are talking about... here's the picture of it
                  left hinge springoff.JPG

checked the left hinge screw circled in red and replace it with a shorter screw like above mention.

Yes but be sure the screw dose not hit #11 the horizontal shaft.

I just remove the document feeder and LIGHTLY push straight down on the left side of the frame right where the hinge mounts with the flat of my hand. It works just as good as all the hinge modifications/replacemets (which are expensive) and it takes about two minutes start to finish. The key is LIGHTLY push down. It only has to move a teeny bit.

we did what you have done that's why when this "lightly pushing that you are saying" doesnt work we recommend to put more tension...

Do whatever you think is best, I'm just telling you waht works for us and has worked since the dawn of copiers. (Last part is a joke, I've only got twenty seven years of expereince) YOu have to put some pressure on it but don't go crazy is what I was trying to say. We have never replaced a hinge unless it physically breaks.

We didn't replace any hinge and the modification is not expensive. We have technicians with 32 years of experience but i never heard them telling about that.
