    Mpc3500/4500 drum lines

We service a bunch of these and they seem to have drums fail far before they should. Almost always have lines on top 1/4 of page, very light but enough to annoy clients. Is this normal or is there something that we can do to extend the life?

    thanks all

There are plenty of bulletins out regarding the cleaning units getting overwhelmed and how to clean the charge rollers.

Welcome to my life.... I can change these drums with a blindfold.
This is common at least here in Norway. Usually when we go from autum to winter and the air becomes dry.
I probably change 15-25 drums a week. At least. Some manage only 20 000 prints. Most manage at least 40-50% of what they're supposed to.

The charge roller gets dirty and we have lines. Seems like a wax coating on the charge roller. Have tried to clean the charge roller - but with little success. Takes too much time too. I know for a fact that many clean them, but that is not economical in a high cost country. We change the drums and get a refund from Ricoh. But only for the part, and not the labor and driving.
The quality of the drum seems good though. Drums (OPC) seems to be in good heath even after they have reached a lot of prints. Too bad with the charge roller. If you look how a Kyocera color drum unit is designed it seems like Ricoh have a job to do. Copy it.

There are a new model and new part number that's supposed to be better. A bit to early to tell.
This is the only design flaw on the color Ricoh machines as far as I know.

In my dreams I see the models with a corona wire insted of the dredded charge roller.

Katun have new cleaning rollers for these models now. I have a few in storage, but I have not tried them yet.
