Be sure and put the left scale plate back on the machine before you turn it on or make a copy. It has the white sheet underneath.

The electronic board? The SBCU? The large main board on the right side of the scan compartment? If so, lots of ribbon cables on there and a couple of them will cause an SC101 if not connected?
Or if you mean the lamp stabilizer on the right Side of the machine, it may be defective. That will cause a 101 as the lamp will not come on.
Is the lamp coming on. Try it in output mode.

I would agree with performing an output check on the lamp. It sounds like it may be a flaky lamp or stabilizer assembly. Also check the scanner operation and make sure that the lamp is back to its proper home position when it initializes. It may be binding up or something.

Usually, if the scanner shaft screws break, it will throw a 124 code, but I guess it's possible to break in an area where it cannot properly move and initialize, throwing the SC101. Output checks are your friend.

I had one that had gotten a craked corner on the backside of one of the mirrors and wouldn't read the white plate right. Other problems with that also but that is a possibility.

I had one like that too. Replacing the mirror was a snap, finding the problem was a headache! It was just a very small chip in the corner (due to the pully screw problem)

                          Sc101

Thanks for your answer, I take from my ricoh 551 that was well working the BICU Board (A2937562), and install it on the other one.
The error code sc101 dissapear but few copies later it comes again.

I change again the BICU with no success my 2 copier are now with sc 101.
I have two red leds on the board.

                          Thanks for your help !

I have two red leds on the board.
There are five of them, which ones are on and which ones blinking.
I think the problem is in the connectors on the SBICU, Perhaps you arnt connecting the ribbon cables correctly. Make sure you dont have a cable underneath the board you've overlooked and that the ribbon cables are locked in place.

                              leds...

Leds 103 and 101 are blinking... I check all connection seems okay for the 2 copiers.

What was strange at the firt time I had the error code is that if I turn on the copier with a paper in the finisher, print a file (the print was workin...) and so make a jammed paper, turn off the copier, turn it on It's indicate the jam paper, no more sc101 code.
This way I print perhaps 20.000 copies but after the scan of the copies become blury... and the trick of jammed paper don't work anymore.....
