[CQ] LD528c (MP C2800) SBU/Stupid question of the day

I've got a machine that makes lines, in color only. Also only when making copies, it prints fine. I cleaned the optics on Monday, and it was fine, but the lines came back today. I've got SP4020 (dust check) maxed out, that does seem to help for a while. Looks like I'll be replacing the lens holder (SBU) again, had the same problem last August and ended up doing the same thing then, too.

Anyone seen this and have a better solution?

And now for the stupid(er) question: There is a thread somewhere here that warned about defective ICs on a board from Ricoh. I searched high and low for a couple of hours for that in case it had anything to do with this problem, but I couldn't find it to save my life. Even if it has nothing to do with this problem I'd kind of like to review it again, so if anyone can tell me where it is, I'll buy you a beer or something if we ever cross paths.

    Thanks!

It was for the MP23/28/3352 series b/w machines. Both the controller and IPU had these dud chips on.

Try using this to search for stuff. Copytechnet Forum Search - Via Google Someone posted it a while back and it works better than the forum search in my opinion.

Or just use Google but add site:copytechnet.com to the end of your search query, e.g. mpc6501 site:copytechnet.com

I'd like to say thanks again for the help. My old computer recently expired and I had lost this until right now.

There have been issues with SBU's in some Ricoh's in the past, that cause lines usually doing color scanning. b051 series for one.
