    Printing to a MP2550 using a Mac...whats required?

I have an office I'm proposing a used copier to.
They are mostly Mac machines except for one Windows 7 box.
I am trying to sell them a MP2550.

Whats required to make printing work? They currently are using an MP3025 and are printing to it.

Do I need the machine to have PS or will the regular PCL6 drivers work?

Thanks and I know it's a dumb question but it's my first encounter with a Mac office.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

PCL will absolutely not work. Macs don't 'speak' PCL. There are some workarounds to get basic functionality, but without installing P/S 3, you'll be asking for trouble down the road.

Thanks for your reply. I will have to figure in the price of a P/S card with the sale.
Now I have to find one...hint hint!! Anyone?

Thanks again for helping me out.

Keep in mind that adding the ps3 option is not simply the addition of the SD card, as in previous models, but rather downloading the contents of the current printer/ scanner card onto the ps3 card in SP mode. you'd better have a manual for this

The only officially supported method of printing to Macs is PostScript. There will be others who will give you alternate methods such as Gutenprint or Foomatic, but those are not supported by Ricoh.

Ditto that. I had 50+ Konica Minoltas get delivered before we discovered that it was a Mac only environment. What a mess. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
            3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
            4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
            5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Really...I hadn't heard about that. Just thought the SD card would do the trick.
My machine supplier tells me to pop the PS/SD card in and it's ready...lol, so much for that.

Ok I do have the service manual and will look it up and get the scoop.

              Thanks

                To quote the service manual:

                PostScript 3 Unit (D383)
                1. Remove the plastic application cover [A] ( x1).
                2. Insert the SD card [B] into Slot 1 (upper slot).
                3. Reattach the plastic application cover ( x1).
                4. Attach the "Adobe PostScript 3" decal to the front cover.

Make sure you attach the sticker, or you will have all sorts of printing faults

                    Those stickers can be rough!
