Enter sp mode and check the jam code to identify which sensor is at fault. Replace the offending sensor.

Check the duplex connector for paper scraps. The Venus and Martini duplex units are fairly bombproof, they don't go wrong too often.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

This always always always a piece of paper in the connector in the rear of the machine. Get your torch out (that's a flashlight for you yanks lol) and look into the depths of the machine, you may have to remove the dulpex unit for a good view. Straighten out a paper clip and scrape out any crap in the connector.... Just switch it off first or you may light yourself up....

just wondering when i remove the units and cheat the door the paper jam sign does not disappear

Hi, well you're onto something there. Just checking, but have you used the input/outputs to check sensor operation? That should lead you to the offending sensor. As you say, it may be a trapped wire etc, but this will pinpoint it for you
Also, there are a few out of sight sensors in that area
                    good luck

you need to fix the door open sign first, I'll go for a blown fuse in the power supply or a door switch.it should take care of the jam indication in (E) as well.

                        hth.

Disconneting the sensors in duplex one by one and doing the same with connectors at IOB and drive board, looking for pinched or trap wires, firmware upgrade and last one i'm putting my money @ new chips(NVram).

Hope sandmanmac, tubojetboy will be here soon.i would also love to hear from them regarding this issue!

                            good luck with that,

Off the wall thing: hopefully you have already checked that the duplex sensor targets are clean enough that the sensors can detect whether a piece of paper is passing by. Probably not the solution to this problem, anymore I've only seen that in document feeders, mostly in the smaller machines. Still, back in the day the 22/27 cpm machines had duplex problems like this, so if you haven't already done that you might want to try cleaning the sensor targets if time permits and see what happens.
