Sounds like you may have had a memory wipe, hope you still have the original non-default data SMC handy.
'Gray Balance Set' is what causes this, set it back to factory defaults.

Alternatively if you find no cure, default 'auto density' to on for colour, i believe this sorts it (well it by-passes the problem)

x2. Have you done a memory clear for any reason? Check under the jam removal decal in the front cover for the birth certificate.

use the birthmark provided with the machine cant remember the exact sp but it will say adf and then book and there are 3 different areas set them to current and that should correct your issue

Try doing a memory clear on COPIER APPLICATION only, I've had machines where there was bad CQ issues on copying, but printing was perfect, this cured it for me. SP5801 then scroll down to copier application

Do you get the background when you do a single color copy off the platen glass?

If not then probably A.D.S is enable causing a background effect like a halo.

Has someone had a fiddle the the colour balance in the user settings? I've had blue back ground because of this previously.....

Um, you probably would be best served if you follow a the previous posts here. But I didn't see where you tried to change the magenta drum, and maybe the magenta developer as well. At least that's what I would have tried first.

He did say colour prints were coming out fine which rules out the drums and devs. had to be settings or scanner unit as it occured in scans as well.

kannuki2 is correct and this setting can be changed in user tools:copier/docserver functions.

                          Try goto copysp mode,

                          4685-1=set to -60
                          4685-2=set to -60

                          4686-1=set to -25
                          4686-2=set to -25

                          4687-1=set to -50

OOPS! Sorry for the wrong info.
With that in mind, it kind of sounds like the SBU on that machine has gone bad. Still, the other posts here are better than mine, so you should try them first, and you might even try playing around with the gamma settings in scanner service mode too before you replace the SBU, I occasionally have had some luck with that for color scanning issues back in the day. (If you do replace the SBU, make sure all of the the gamma settings are all set back to default values (I think that is 15), though.)
