    C3502 and C4502 "smears"

Ok guys, here is one for you. As you can see by the attatchment, we are getting a "smear" about 4 inches wide going from LE to TE. This seems to only happen on 11x17 and 8 1/2 x 14 and its on color and b/w. There are 4 different machines doing this. Three of which are C3502 and the other one is a C4502. Developers, ITB, Fuser, Black Drums, PTR, ITB Cleaning Unit, BCU, contorller have all been replaced and various settings according to Tech Pubs. Ricoh suggested replacing developers, so we did that and they were no help. It always happens in the same exact place on the 11x17 and legal. Any suggestions would be very very very helpful.

    Thanks in advance

Called Ricoh and they sent me this email.

Several complaints have come in regarding toner "smearing" on LTR SEF, LGL, and 11x17. It was previously advised to replace the developer units. This has proven to be a temporary remedy to the actual problem, which is the fuser drive motor. The same issue has been occurring in Japan and this has fixed 100% of the units effected so far.
Please advise technicians experiencing this issue to replace the fuser drive motor, and have the technician send the defective fuser drive motor, copy samples, serial number, and meter reading, to:

I hope this helps out all of you who have had this issue.

Try setting SP 1 -801-72 to 3. It is down to the fuser drive timing. This code as worked for me and so far has saved replacing the motor. If you change this code, "and" order a new motor, remember to set the code back to what is was once the motor has been replaced.
