    [CQ] MP5000 , SP8200

    Hi guys

After replacing drum, cleaning blade and developer what settings do you guys to. I do the setting described in the manual but every now and then the copies will have a horrible background like developer being overtoned. On several occations when getting back to the machine the day after the copy qaulity will be perfect. Almost like the machine did a auto process control and sorted itself out.

Do you also replaced the charge roller and brush roller? A worn out charge roller can also cause bad copies. Make sure the firmware is up-to-date.

Do not always change the charge roller, but still why will the copies be perfect the next day. Its as if it did a auto SP mode and fixed itself. With the copies looking bad and overtoned the VSG = 4.05 and the VSP = 0.10

I always replace the charge roller when I do a rebuild of the PCU.

If you replace the charge roller you should check SP2-001-001 and if the value is not set at 1500V, you should set it on this value. This value changes with time. During process control the machine can decide to raise the value, which has an effect on copy quality.

These things can be right pigs to service. I always replace everything in one go, clean the mag roller whether I'm replacing dev or not. You have to give the inside of the machine a clean out too, bad contacts between drum and machine give you headaches.... It's never a simple job on these... good luck
