    MPC2050 Firmware upgrade failing

    Hi

Im quite new to this and would appreciate some advice. I'm trying to upgrade our machines firmware. I go into WIM goto firmware update and select the file click update and appears to work. The machine says its accepted it and restarts. After this the original version shows and if I go back in it say the the firmware is incorrect?

Could someone help me on this please.

Is there another way to upgrade directly.

Is there a reason for the firmware update? If it isn't broken, then no need to fix it.

Best to use an SD card to update the firmware, if you have it connected to the network the update can get interrupted by an end-user or network fault.

To use an SD card, find one that is at least 128MB. Create a folder in the root directory called romdata, then within create a folder with the name of the firmware (.fwu) files. E.g. If you have a file X1234567Y.fwu, create an X1234567Y folder and place the files within.

Turn off the machine and unplug. On the rear-left of the machine, there is metal plate held on with a single screw. It should have a [1] and [2] next to it. Remove the plate and place the SD card in the [2] (bottom) slot. Turn on the machine and follow the update instructions, you will need to use the number pad to select the modules to update. Current versions are shown to the left of the card versions. Don't turn off the machine or remove the card until it tells you to.

If you have the remote firmware files (.rfu) then you will need to re-download the non-remote versions.

      Hi

Thanks for the help. I was trying to upgrade via WIM with fwu files. Is there a way to get hold of the remote files?

Best to do it directly, not all firmware is available as remote. You can still download them through Tessa, if you have a login, or through My-Ricoh; again, if you have a login.

I can get this firmware, but it isn't free. If interested, email me at Paul@justmanuals.com

Ruben just explained the procedure for updating your firmware. Don't you have a SD card? Format your card using the Panasonic SD card formatter (free download), then use this file structure. romdata> D038> your FWU files. Follow his instructions to load the files onto the machine. Forget about the RFU files, your making this way too complicated. If this is all Greek to you, you need to call your local Ricoh service rep. If you load the wrong files onto your machine, you will fubar it.

then you have to call a certified service tech to do it.
but are you updating just for the sake of updating or was there a problem originally that brought you to the conclusion to update the firmware?
some of the ricoh copier after an firmware updates causes the hard drives to fail I only update if there is a problem that can be solved by firmware.
                good luck

Thanks to everyone for their help. I managed to get it done with the SD card in the end.

Does anyone know the latest firmware version number for this machine ?
