    Savin 9021d - scan

I have worked on Ricoh/Gestetner/Savin machine before but never had to set one up as a scanner. Had a customer that purchased this on-line and wants it to scan. It copies, faxes, prints OK. But I can not figure out how to setup the scan feature on this machine. When I select SMB to search the network it never finds anything. They have a Win 7, 64 bit machine they are using as a server. But the copier does not see anything on the network, I just get a message that it can ot connect to the PC ( or something like that). You can go to any PC and put in the IP address of the copier and view the setting in tjhe machine. I need help on this one.

I can set up Canon's all day long but this Ricoh is kicking my bu**. Does it need a upgrade or something or wrong am I doing wrong of missing?

    Thanks

You'll first need to update firmware to make it compatible with Win7. If that's not an option to you then switch the protocol to FTP and set it up that way, or setup Scan to email.
Scanning issues have been covered ad nauseum in the forum, so I'm not prepared to cover it at any length again myself. Do some searching and you'll find everything you need.
    2 tips:
1 - Use "Ricoh" rather than Savin, etc. It's the more common box, and
2 - Don't worry about focusing too much about the specific model, they're all almost identical.

I did do a quick search to get you started on the Ricoh version of the machine though:

The Ricoh 'translation' is a MP1600/MP2000. This should easily work with basic SMB/SMTP/FTP scanning. Nothing special is required.

If this machine has a DDST controller, I think it's a TWAIN scanner only.

It needs to have a GW controller to push scan.

If he is able to enter smb scanning info and get the "PC connection Failed" error I am sure he has the GW controller on his machine.
Check your dns settings on the machine. Also make sure that the destination PC's have a windows login password and its properly entered into folder authentication.

Crosses over to a Ricoh 2018.
This machine will only scan to email, twain or delivery server.
There is no folder application built in the controller.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?
