    MPC4500 user codes

    Hello all,
I have an MPC4500 that my customer wants to use codes for everything (copying, printing) to control color usage. I know how to set them up but this customer wants the code to pop up when a user chooses color. I know Kyocera has an option to "prompt" (pop up) the code. Is there a way to make the Ricoh's do it? The user code is embedded in the "vaild access" tab, but I'm clueless as to how to prompt the user for the code. Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

Ricoh drivers do not have such a function built into them, you have edit the driver yourself. At least, that's how it was in the old days.

    See: Printer Driver Editor

Make sure you completely remove the old driver first, before you edit the new one.

Ruben is right; you will need to edit the driver for pop ups.

You can only edit the PCL6 driver for pop ups, BTW.

you can download the utility here Printer Driver Editor

        Printer Driver Editior Ver 1.1.1.0

you run the program and browse to the driver inf you want to change. When you open the file you can set all the defaults of the driver including a pop up for a user code. When you get it the way you want it, you save that file and this is your new print driver to load.

The instructions are part of the downloaded file.

        Good Luck,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe the editor program linked here is compatible with the machine in question here (or the older boxes), but this one is: http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/ri...ization-2.html

            Hi,

You can use the PCL Universal driver. With the Printer driver editor you can change the settings of the driver such as pop up screen during prrinting. Please take note that the pop dialog box will appear every time the user print.
