    [CQ] Pro906 Black Band

We have a Pro906 which is giving a black vertical band about an inch thick running from edge to edge.

Also there can be text in this area which will be perfectly clear and legible.

This is an intermittent fault which is very intermittent being and random happening 1 in every 5k or 10 in every 3k

    no relevant error codes.

Any ideas or solutions would be great.

    Re: Pro906 Black Band

If it's running from lead edge to trail edge then maybe the charge wire cleaner is stalling before it reaches the end of its run, this will cause a black line that width by blocking the charge but still allow some amount by (not sure if it would error out, older models didn't). If it's from front to rear then it might be a pit in the drum causing a charge short.
The fact that it happens between 1-5k seems about the cleaning cycle for the charge wire.

      Thanks for your reply teebee.

Not the charge cleaner as its running in wrond direction.

The line is horizontal not vertical and doesn't run from lead to trail edge.

If you do have the manuals, you probably ought to check them out before you insult somebody who is trying to help you.

Trying to help me by making a quick buck?! What help is that?

i put the question to the forum as manuals, knowledgebase and Ricoh have no answer.

Actually, based on the information you shared, how was he supposed to know you had the manuals? And that being said, why wouldn't he offer you the opportunity to purchase the manuals?
Sort of like you, who according to the information that you shared hadn't even bothered to check the condition of the drum blade and the charge grid on your machine, and you were just looking to mooch free information.

have you tried the transfer bias rollers?

How do you know I hadn't checked the drum blade, etc .....

I'm no fool! My post may have been short and sweet and forgive me for not listing all things checked and replaced.

Mooching free info?? Not my style fellow monkey. Threw out a question to see if anyone else had came across the issue as Ricoh UK and knowledgebase were of little help.

                        Thanks for your reply.

I've found in the past with the Bellinis and Katanas when you get transfer wear issues the markings you get are scuff like.

                        Defo not that.

Laser related by the look of things. Fitted a laser diode and driver pcb so hopefully any feedback we get from site will be good.

Think more laser related issue and if not I'll be looking towards the memory DIMMS on the controller.
