    Aficio 2238c postscript install instructions?

Anyone know if we can just add a postscript chip to a 2238c?

We purchased the chip for the client and not sure procedures needed to install if any.

    Thanks

The PS3 option for this machine is just an SD card placed at the rear of the machine.

Just install the PS-Card and make a print of the printer configuration to see if the PS3-option is available.

Remove installed chip and put this in its place?

You will need to merge the other program on to the postscript chip.

Not on the older machines like this, the p/s goes in the 'other' slot - either above or below the print/scan card (i can't remember the exact locations off the top of my head)

All the machines of this line that I've ever seen have three slots, and unless slot 2 is occupied the Postscript option just needs to be inserted there.
On the other hand, the Postscript option is on a "SD" card, a flat blue plastic unit around an inch and a quarter long and roughly an inch wide (sorry, all my metric measuring tools are out in the car, but by dead reckoning that should be somewhere around 32 mm long and 25 mm wide) with a shiny chrome label. Hopefully it is just a misunderstanding on my part, but if you are actually working with an IC chip that might not work.

Oh, also there might be a copyright issue with this, so if you have a used SD card it might not even work if you do everything correctly.
I think that's mainly a Java "Virtual Machine" (VM) option issue only for newer machines, though.

Neither the PostScript or Java cards can be copied or merged onto other cards.

It's not just a matter of copyright; it simply won't work.

Both of these cards can, however, have other applications merged onto them in the event there is a shortage of slots. The most common would be merging the print / scan card onto the PostScript card - we do that one quite frequently. Another example would be merging a DOSS card onto a print / scan or PostScript card.
