    Ricoh MP C4501 Wavy stains

My Color copier has recently been printing and copying with stains, no apparent pattern, just randomly placed across the sheet of paper. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Could be a number of things. I would start with the fuser, could have a damaged belt and/or pressure roller. Do a forced stop just as the paper is entering the fuser, if the marks are still there then move onto transfer belt.

I agree. Look like fuser to me. You're going to need a tech for this - regardless of the problem

Just looking at your sample, it appears that the exposure setting is set excessively dark ... dark enough to show the image through from the other side of the paper. Perhaps the fault you're seeing is very subtle on the front or rear of the original, then exaggerated on the copy.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Well first thing i notice is an erase margin thats white, and a slight shade to everything inside the margin, as well as the image from the backside of the orginal copy, im guessing you made a copy and the paper must be pretty see through for the scanner to see the reverse side which means it probably is also seeing the whiteboard any chance the whiteboard has junk on it and your copy glass is it clean.

If you print something like a user tools/counter sheet do you still get junk on it or is this on copies mainly. Thats my thought, otherwise my next guess would be maint but typically when charge rollers, transfer belts, and fuser leave background it goes to the edge of the paper all the way through the erase margin.

Then again that margin could just be from when you scanned this in to show us the page, so you might want to look at your original page and see if there is about an 1/8 inch white edge around the page, if not then im off and the scanned in image is throwing me for a loop, in that case its time for maintanence.

This is exactly what it is. The random marks are due to the varying density and impurities in the paper, like when a watermark is created. Normally not visible, but when the exposure is set this high you're 'pushing' the light through the paper and reflecting back from the platen cover.
