    [CQ] base model ricoh 3000 continued

    after i have fix the color gray scales and entering the values from the in default page i have
    i have discovered that the user tools admin and supervisor passwords have been change

    now i know i can replace the nvram on it however the boss doesn't really like the idea i have been told you can reset them back to default password but don't know how

    You have three possible options if both the admin and supervisor password have been changed.

    1. Contact the original owner of the machine and see if they still have them.
    2. Replace the NVRAM.
    3. Download the NVRAM and alter it using a hex editor; details are on this site if you use Google site search or the forum search.

      thank you for the info how ever i didnt use the hex editor but using itas my keyword search i found the better and easier way to fix my problem
      if i may ask however i would like to have a SD card set up and rdy to upload nvram info when i need to do so

      im am a novice in the felid of copier tech. i been working for my uncle and his been in the copier business for over 20 years. i been working this for just over 1 year i got a lot of the basics down however more in depths stuff i would love to learn more of this.

      for starter there are 3 sd slots
      a) what are the uses of te 1 2 3 slots
      b) how to upload and download nvram info i all rdy tried to use them but they only fail

        If your uncle has been at this for so long, the first thing he should have taught you is to RTFM! Everything can't be simply handed to a person, and you learn nothing when it is. Do yourself an immense service and invest a few $$$ in a service manual or 2. It's the best money a person can spend

          use you are rightshould of been one of the first thing i should of learned but he specializes in the hardware aspect of copier repair when it come to the soft ware side that's where i come in by learning from what he know and self explorering i learned much of the machines i work on. i have been convincing him to invest in service manuals as well. Im tring to learn as Much as i can Intel i break him into buying them

          even tho i can read from a service manual the book itself hand you the info its the matter of how u use that info to learn whether if u read from.the book or someone tells u

            One other thing that you might find helpful: search the Ricoh thread here for the information you need. Maybe somebody else has had a similar problem as you are having and there has been a suitable conclusion to their problems, you might find that information useful.

              Can you think of what search terms would find their tread about using a hex editor? I can't find it and would like to know about this for the future.
