[Error Code] Ricoh MP c3500 codes out on firware update.

    hi all,
just picked up this machine to work on. it's been getting the dreaded jam three times and then sc548. replaced the two sensors and the ferrite wheel thing on the fuser.
went to update the firmware and everything went wrong. put sd card in slot 3 and waited. a couple minutes later and i got an sc672. tried three times with same result. machine comes ready ok without firmware update card in.
has anybody seen this problem? any help would be much appreciated. thanx a bunch!!

Might start with formatting the SD card, reloading the firmware & give it another go. If that doesn't work, i have had some luck with the RFU firmware, done via crossover cable.

Usually SC548 is equal to "change the fuser". Had some issues like yours in the past and the only long-term remedy was to change the unit. However, here in the UK it's way cheaper to order a fusing/paper transfer kit for matching PRINTER (can't remember its code name) compared to the C3500 photocopier. All you have to do is to swap two wires in the unit's connector. Otherwise it won't be recognized.

Don't just update the firmware for no reason. More than likely you will have the incorrect version and cause more problems, or even permanently damage a board.

sc548 if a fuser slow down, so replace all bearings including oil roller once and o/r. Don't forget the high temp grease, plus bushings for tension spring. 549 ferrite core slow down replace ferrite core. Done right sc548 wont come back for at least 200 k. Check the orange sponge roller make sure its nice and firm not worn at the edges where its fixed to the shaft in the middle.
