Ricoh mpc 3500 jamming portrait and not on landscape

I have a ricoh mpc which is jamming from all trays before the registration roller , the odd page has gone through but looks scewed , when i switch the paper direction to landscape it feeds perfectly so the problem only occurs when paper is set to portrait . Any help will be greatly appreciated .

    Hi

Have you checked the paper tray settings that its correct for the paper direction, make sure the tray is level and paper is not curled up at the bottom making the paper at a smal angle and lastly there is no piece of paper or my lair at the end hitting the paper.

registration or paper feed clutch will do this, the timing of the feed from port to land is longer, and the reg clutch may be hanging up in the longer paper mode, just a suggestion
ive had many odd ball paper feed situations end up being the first drawer feed clutch, or shall i say ive replaced the first drawer feed clutch and the problem went by by.. may be coincidence but just a suggestion.

Just curious, can you tell us what the paper tray size settings are set to in "User Tools"?
I was just wondering because if those settings aren't corrected first, any other solutions will probably be costly and waste your time.

I agree, or broken or loose spring. Use a narrow strip of paper to check and see if you can slide it between one end of the registration rollers.

Tab on the upper guide plate is broken.
