You can either replace the NVRAM or contact the previous owner; see if they kept a record of the password.

I replaced the NVRAM and code 995-2 I put back original nvram and code went away are mpc 4000 and mpc 5000 the same nvram? I believe the one I used was for a 5000 do you have mpc 4000 part #. I know mpc3500 and 4500 are interchangeable. I assumed the same on the MPC 4000 5000. Thank you

the code you have may be a serial number mis match.I think you may have to input the serial number in the sp mode section 5.

Yes it is the same Nvram as the mpc2800/3300/4000/5000 also the error code is probably because you didn't dl the nvram data from the machine and put it onto the new nvram but you probably didn't do that because it will dl the login passwords ect.

Make sure you print out all the non default sp mode data with the smc printout before replacing the nvram as you will need to input all the data that was set in the old nvram

Oh and the Supervisor Login as a Password as default of supervisor or super cant remember which but its not Blank like the admin one is.

it is supervisor and password is blank like the administrator by default.
Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please.

I don't know if this is resolved yet, but not long ago Ricoh Tech Support gave us the following info to clear the password:
"Clear Modes" ,"1","4","3" "Clear/Stop", "Clear/Stop" (Hold the "Clear/Stop" keytop for about 5 seconds the second time and the machine should go into SP Mode). Enter SP5846-046 and Execute. This particular SP function IS NOt available in the normal or special SP Mode.

There's a reason for that, Gary.
And some information simply does NOT belong in a public forum
