usb scanning with mpc4500

I have set this up before, no prob , but, Im trying to smb through usb and it just wont connect, there is no third party security software, firewall is off, workgroup is workgroup..its win 7 Home pre, could this be the prob?
if so what is the fix? anybody know? thanks

SMB is only available through network. You might be able to use TWAIN scanning through USB, but not all models support it.

Yup. Ruben is right.
2 Problems:
1: SMB scanning via USB is IMPOSSIBLE
2: SMB scanning over a network to a WIN 7 box will require updated firmware if it hasn't been done - but FTP doesn't

If the firmware is not up to speed update it. Search the forums there are many posts for smb scanning on W7 HP.........

Additionally, try searching for scanning to Windows 7 threads on here for the answer, there are loads of them.
