    MPC6000 Pukes toner still... OMG

Just helped another tech PM an MPC6000 after not having to work on them in forever. I cannot believe the only solution Ricoh has for those pigs after all this time is dynamite. Kinda sad that even all the talent on CTN hasn't been able to exorcise that demon - really speaks to how piss poor a job the engineers did on that one.

I will be praying for those of you cursed with these abonimations

You need to install the ground straps on the drum stay for all colors. It's not a totalcure but it does help alot. Thier availablr from NA Trading.

I'm very interested to hear more about this too.

As for the engineers, I don't think they got it right on the MPC6502-8002 either.

Well now you will be going there just once a week, to change the waste bottle every 10 to 15 thousand sheets!

Yeah the ground plates do help. I think the number we use is 0203 7013 and as Tonerbomb says that is from NA Trading. They install in behind the clear ducts on the faceplate and when installed they touch the end of the drum drive shaft as it sticks through the faceplate.

we have installed the drum grounds on all our machines, and only have a couple weeks of weather that seem to cooperate with these machines running halfway decent - most of the time the temp is too high or the humidity is too low in the room/location.Toner scatter, can't pass ACC, PCQ etc.
Anyway, no one else can be having as many problems.....

Erm no not just your techs having issues... we have issues too on every venus machine....although the mpc6000 do work better than the mpc6501 range, we get fobbed off with same answers to.....

The attached file is some modifications to the SP settings. They slightly lower toner concentration in the deveopment unit and offset image quality by raising transfer current. The lower toner concentration reduces scattering and toner build up on charge rollers. I have a customer with two MPC6502s that where set this way from the beginnng with no scattering until about 50K past time to replace black developer. Started getting ID sensors from black toner getting on the sensors every two or three days. Replaced the developer and now no problems

Between the setting changes slimslob posted and the drum ground straps available from NA Trading, most of the scattering will be managable. I've done this on four machines with good results. As for the mumbo jumbo from the manufacturer, it helps to know the right people very well.......

Rub the brown coating off the charge rollers completely if you want a bit more time between visits. This stops lines on full coverage copies happening as soon as they normally do.

I feel more like a janitor than a tech sometimes, but by doing the following religiously has increased my cbc's.

                              1) Change the PM interval for the three rear air filters to 100k this reminds me to vacuum them more frequently than the 300k-450k that the manufacturer recommends.

                              2) Replace the YMC lube bar springs with the black style (puts less pressure on the lube bar) cuts down significantly on calls for lines.

                              3) If it has been 30k or greater since last visit I pull apart the pcu's and vacuum them out. Yes I know it's a pain.

                              4) Set SP 3501-002 to 0 SP3501-005 to 1.

                              5) Pull itb and clean blades and music sensors.
