If it doesn't work they'll have to let it go. You can show them that it's not supported for years. They can't demand you to install a program that doesn't work. It's the same as demanding support for Windows 95 and Word Perfect 5.1. It's simply not possible. At some point manufacturers stop supporting software.

I did not think my thread would get this big. Once again I must explain that they are scanning. This past week I did not hear anything from them so I know for sure they are continuing to scan because if not they would have called me.

The scan router v2 lite does work on Windows 7 and Vista but only tried on 32-bit not 64-bit.

The only issue for them is that they have to run the service manually and it should be automatically instead. Other than that everything is fine.

For those who think Windows Vista or 7 won't work think again because I am proof. It will work but only tested on 32-bit system.

I will look into repair and install as a service. That is probably the trick.

Once I can get back there and make the changes I will post back here the results. Thanks all of you for the help and your opinions.

I totally agree with your point but read above and you will see it works.

If they can live with the fact that they must restart the service every morning, that's fine.

I understand your situation. I'm a '1 man show', and while it might be nice if I could just tell all my clients to 'just let it go', and have them spend lots of money to upgrade, it's simply not always that easy or practical for them - especially since I alone am the sales, service, and support centre.

Not all of us here are dealing with businesses with hundreds or thousands of employees, that need need the most cutting edge technology available. All of mine, are small business with only a few, to a couple of dozen employees that require simple solutions

Scanrouter does still do the trick for many of my customers, and for the ones that are, and have been loyal to me for years and years, if I can find an inexpensive solution that works for them for the time being, it does nothing but help me down the road when an upgrade does become necessary.

A dirty little secret is also that there is often more money to be made from those that are attached to their older machines and continue to pay me to keep it going, in spite of my efforts to upgrade them.

For the record once again, I still have it installed in well over a dozen locations running windows 7 and Server 2008 - both 32 and 64 bit systems, and it works flawlessly as long as you make the necessary "tweaks" I've discussed in this, and several other threads.

There, I've cleansed myself. I feel better now.

(NOTE: Whatever you do, don't even think about trying it on Windows 8! Been there, done that, and it's not pretty!)

Thanks Sandman. I like your attitude and appreciate the advice. I am also a '1' man show. I only deal with home and small business. The machine works so why leave it if it works?

The day it stops working they will have to decide what to do next. I have no problem with the Scan Router program and since it works on Vista and 7 I am happy. I always look for low cost solutions and once they work it also helps me down the road for upgrades.

That Dirty Little Secret is the truth. I still maintain several old systems so it is money in my pocket. I have created a Word document with your instructions and printed it out. Next time I am there which will probably be next Friday I will test it. Hopefully it works and I will post my results here.

In the meantime thanks again and have a wonderful week!

              Victor
