i have a ricoh aficio 3235c which i use for a wide range of projects the problem i have is for some reason the fuser belt has started moving down the rollers to the left and getting jammed so the machine eats it ..

When this fuser starts eating the belt are you changing just the belt or the entire fuser?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Are you using the blue knob on the side of the fuser to remove jams? Are you using the right paper settings, and only using paper made for laser printers? How do the oiler and cleaner rollers look?

firstly the only thing that has never jammed is the paper all papers and transparent are genuine and printer specifics
its just the fusing belt slides to the left as you are looking at the printer and gets caught up
all other rollers look very good

Something in the fuser is causing the pressure on the belt to be uneven. Make sure the rollers, springs and bearings associated with the belt are installed correctly.
Also check that the pressure roller, springs, bearings and linkages are OK.
Finally, I agree that a new fuser is probably the best way to go on a machine this old. Costly? Sure. But then you shouldn't have to worry about it for a while. New OEM fusers usually have a warrantee, too (make sure to ask about that, though).

Is the machine on a solid level surface?

There are spring loaded bushings that support a white felt roller (Cotton looking) that keeps the tension on the fusing belt. When those bushings wear out, it can cause the belt to walk.

Here's the pn#'s to the bushings and springs (2)AA06-3426 and (2)AE03-1039
